Card Share #3 of 6 - Stampin Up 'Just Believe' Set

Front of Card #3 - Card and a removable bookmark!
Bookmark and Front of Card#3
As you can see, by the time card#3 came about, I started expanding my horizons and playing around a bit!
I made a removable bookmark, that is held in place with the tabs (SU punch) and a sentiment.

Added goodies from the previous cards:
SU Border punch on top of tag, ribbon and hardware
A minuscule scrap strip of patterned paper - Pink Paisley - from my July Midnight Rooster Kit
Versamark used with the stamps on front of card front for 'tone on tone'

The inside of the card has more goodies, but I already wrote inside and am keeping it private.

This is for my sister-in-law and her beau thanking them for getting the cabin we stayed at when we went on our wonderful vacation last month to Silver Lake!

Thanks for looking!

Card Share #2 of 6 - Stampin Up Just Believe Set

Card #2 - Just for You
Inside of Card #2

This time I used 5 stamps from the Just Believe Set!  Oh how I love this set!!!!!

In terms of supplies, I only used two of the ink colors, and added that gorgeous brad in the corner on the front of the card - a new goody in the Designer Hardware Antique Brads container that I also purchased from SU!

And, in case you are curious, the majority of my new found inspiration for this set (Just Believe, by Stampin' Up) came from page 97 in the new SU Catalog!

If you happen to go check it out, there is peek at another gorgeous set (Homegrown) that I also got!

Photos from this Week - And A Few Musings

Last Sunday - putting up the hot chicken fence for the pasture hens

A view of the kid's summer chateau - a 52 year old tent!  (photo taken through upstairs window screen)
Morning Sky - taken while driving and hauling The Bad Girls and 20 Sheep- yes, while driving
Spying on the Kids - Out back visiting kitties
It's mid August.

Only 2 weeks and 2 days until school is back in session.

We love summer and are NOT ready for school.  Boo hoo.

I'm one of those mom's who loves this time of year - sunshine, no homework, daily episodes of adventures combined with work, and having time with my kids.  Our summer seems to have just begun and I'm hanging on to it as much as I can.

My two are 12 and 11 and at that ever so perfect age of 'in between'.  They still tolerating me - but just slightly.  They hug me in private.  In public, I tend to embarrass them.  They do not like it when I dance - especially in public.  Or whip out my camera. I have to do these things on the sly.

They are great company on adventures.  We can have 'big people talks', go out to eat, and enjoy each other's company.

Only two more weeks of bliss.

Project 12 - June Layout - This is June?

My June Project 12 Layout - Click on to Enlarge and read journaling

Project 12 June Sketch - By Becky Fleck
Here is my submission for June's Project 12 Sketch hosted by Scrapbook & Cards Today, and Davinie.  My entry is late, but alas, I am still caught up! The colors are all funky in the photo.  Hopefully if you enlarge it it will look better!

I also saved my 2-page layout photo as a 4x6 - hopefully you can 'see' it!  If not, please click on it to enlarge!

Products Used:
Base Card Stock: Kraft Cardstock - Stampin' Up

Patterned Papers:  I used my July Midnight Rooster Kit for most of the papers used (Collage Press Knave of Hearts Collection; Prima Marketing Pastiche Collection, American Crafts Botanique, and Pink Paisley Queen Bee Collection).
Embellishments:  American Craft 'Flat' Patterned Thickers (also from my Midnight Rooster kit), K&Co Alphas (Wood Grain), Lace (also from Midnight Rooster Kit), Cub Scout Sticker Title & sticker emblem (K&Co Boy Scouts of America Kit), Time to Together journal strip (Studio Calico), and Jenni Bowlin Rubons (Ranch Life, lines above and below).

Fun Technique: My Stamped and chalked 'Created' Patterned Paper:  I did not have 2 sheets of the gorgeous Collage Press 'Clouds' patterned paper you see on the left page, so I created a 2nd page to 'match' at best I could.  What I used was: My new Hero Arts Vertical Clouds Stamp, Versamark, and Pebbles Inc, chalks.   ** I loved doing this! **

Things to Share
Journaling:  Our summers are crazy!  Baby lambs, calves, chickens.  Working at the Farmers' Markets in Pendleton, Portland, La Grande and Boise. Irrigating. School just ends.  No real social life.  The weather was cold all month! Grandma Pat came! Great thunderstorms. Jake had Scout Camp. The kids wanted to sleep in the tent, a bit nippy.  And then there are the views.  I wouldn't give it up for any city life!  As hectic and crazy as it is.  We still have it good!

Photo descriptions:  (I see I neglected to put these on the pages!):
Left Page:
1. Ernest, out watching Dick moving cattle (one of my absolute favorites!  Ernest is retired, and he often just gets to watch.)
2.  Photo of our cattle in one of the fields caught on my morning walk.  I love the sky, the trees, the field, the cows!
Right Page:
1. Jake holding the rain maker he made at camp (and wearing his 'safe the earth recycle my sister' shirt!)
2. Jake, Grandma Pat (my mom), and Sami.

OK!  That's a wrap!  Thanks so much for visiting!

Family Vacation Recap! Silver Lake, CA and 'The Cabin'

We were so organized at the beginning of the trip!
We had lots and lots of miles of landscape views

Silver Lake, Somewhere Near Susanville, CA
The Kitchen in the Cabin (no electricity)
The Front of the Cabin (facing the lake)
A hike atop the rim of Silver Lake
Dick took the kids sailing on a Sunfish - Daily!
Canoe Lessons - Daily!
The Boys get their lesson
The original sign from when my husbands' family owned the cabin
One of our hikes
Sami's Thank You letter
So we just spend four days having a FABULOUS vacation!

Dick's sister got a hold of the cabin his family owned for three generations, and we brought 2 extra kidlets with us.  This might have been insane, taking someone else's children to another state, and to a place without cell service.  But we did it!  One of the kids had a hard time each evening missing her mom - but we worked through it.  She was such a trooper - jumping into each adventure with an open heart.  The other? We heard a lot of 'I don't want to' (insert snotty ungrateful attitude) - which resulted in our son missing out on a few adventures and opportunities.  Live and Learn.

Anyway, our children got to do the things Dick did each summer when his family stayed at the cabin - canoe, sail, hike, explore caves, etc.  And we added something new:  making a fire out front (this always messed me up!  The front of the cabin faces the lake!) and making Smores.

Most of the items in the cabin are antiques from the days when Dick's family owned it.  All the lights are gas, and vintage fixtures with gas lines that run to them!  And it's really dark inside!  I had a hard time seeing what we were cooking, eating, and cleaning.  And no showers for the entire time!  ACK!  Let's just say, it's the better form of camping, if a girl had to pick, I would take the cabin over a tent any day!

So, that's a recap of where we have been and what we have done!

And yes, it is good to be home!

Clicking my red shoes, three times!

Our next adventure?  Is in three weeks!!!!!

2023 December Daily : Monday December 5th

Monday's Morning Adventure This word keeps showing up for me! Again. Hope.  This is Dukey! This is Carly Sami and Lane's Dirt Road...
