Project 12 - August, 2010 - Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri

August Sketch - Project 12

My Interpretation of the sketch
Ah yes.. Another Project 12 layout!

About Project 12:
Each month Becky Fleck creates a sketch for a 'make a layout once a month' challenge, hosted by Design Team Member, Divinie, over at the Scrapbook and Cards Today Blog.  I'm getting caught up!  This was one of my New Year's Resolutions, if you recall!  Only 2 more to go and I am caught up!

Supplies Used:
CS and little scallop punch: Stampin' Up
Big Scallop Embossing Punch:  EK Success
Patterned Papers: October Afternoon & Cosmo Cricket
Stamp:  Kim Hughes Spring Trees (Cornish Heritage Farms, so sorry they are no longer!)
Ink:  Stampin' Up and Ranger
Embellishments:  Cosmo Cricket and goodies from my Midnight Rooster Kits!

See the Vintage label above my journaling?  It used to say 'Hudson' but I cut it out with a craft knife, and put 'Missouri' in it instead!  Added a little distress ink to try and make it blend better than white.

Journaling Reads:
August 2010
For our big summer vacation, the kids and I went to Missouri to visit our favorite auntie, Paula!   We flew into St. Louis and had a week of blissful days.  Her apartment was right against a creek. Oh the sounds of the cicadas!  I LOVE the sounds of the insects. The weather was wonderful with just a touch of humidity!
We got our school shopping done at Chesterfield, Mall where I used to work when I was in High School! And low and behold, they now have an Arichvers!!!
We showed the kids our old home, our schools and the Lake where we played.
We spent most of the time at Tan Tar A, a Resort at Lake of the Ozarks.  We each had ‘our day of saying what activities we would do.
Jake: Bears Den Arcade
Sami: The Indoor Waterpark
Paula:  Poolside, with cocktails!
Me:  Golfing!

We were poolside daily, and had a blast.  We also found outlet stores and Sami was in heaven with a visit to Aeropostale.  And, every single day, we made sure we ate ice-cream.

So.. remember my little journal that I started to track 2010 challenges & sketches?

Here is my first for 2010!!!! I love this page.. I love all things 'earthy' and these papers and elements are so yummy! My favorite Cosmo paper line of 2009... Earth Love....

The photos are from our family photo session back on Nov. 1, 2009.. When we were freezing our body parts off...and the wind was blowing, but heck.. We look good! The photo of all of us walking away, in the upper left corner, is from the same day... It's on our photo collage Christmas Card that just got mailed last Friday!

I told you I have a bazillion great photos from that day!

Yippee! Skippie! I 'got something' done!!!
Sami is ahead. She has one card and one layout under her belt... Her BFF completed 2 layouts...
Stinkers...
Why are the 12 and younger so darn talented???? They ooze creativity! I love what they made this last weekend! But, I can't share their layouts.. they are getting posted on a 'do not show your entries on your blog' challenge:)

Cuteness...

Just another reason!!!

Caardvark's Sketchfest - Friday!

OK.. Call me crazy, but I got up at 3am to do this card! It took me exactly one hour. Yesterday was a super full day, and I didn't get home until 9pm, then I ate dinner, and then I said 'bedtime'.

The really crazy part? This isn't even the card that I had in my mind while I 'slept'! (OK, if you are a card maker or scrapbooker, and don't see visions of sketches and products floating in your head while you attempt to sleep, I must be crazy!)... Any hoot (Get it? Hoot?) I have some Graphic 45 papers that are just dying to get used! And then, there are some super cute Unity stamps I wanted to use! But, oh well... somehow these goodies caught me eye and said 'we want to play'!!!!

And that is how my itty bitty busy brain works in the early hours!

Why, you say? I was gonna just say 'forget it, I don't have time', but, heck I am only 2 sketches away from the finish line!!!

My weekend is oh so packed, and like I said, I just could not throw in the towel... as easy as it would be.. and most likely I will do the same thing again tomorrow morning.. I have another crazy busy day and evening!!!

Any hoot, Thanks for looking, listening, and commenting!

Moxie Fab House Hold Items Challenge

I love Fall! Even though it's 86 degrees on this fine Mid September day, fall is showing it's colors!!! One of our Birch trees has streams of yellow leaves intermixed with the dark green.. (Love that color combo), and our Apples are almost ripe! Yeah!!!!!

Above is my entry for this weeks Hero Arts color challenge #3, as well as the Moxie Fab Household Items Challenge.

Now, here's the deal. I don't have very many 'household' item related embellies or stamps except for the Sparkle Clear 'tea for two' set from Hero Arts. So, we will have to settle for a paper pieced teacup and spoon and a teabag! I am looking forward to the day when I can just sit with a cup of tea and relax... Unfortunately, that day won't arrive until mid November - and most likely it will include snow!

By the way... I used 10 stamps on this card! I managed to pick up the New HA Brocade Cling when I was in Boise last week.. What an awesome stamp... I used it on the chipboard...

Thanks for Looking!!

Supplies:
HA Stamps: CL137 Small Variety Alpha, CG102 Antique Brocade Cling (stamped on circle chipboard), HA Sparkle Clear Tea for 2 (teacup, spoon, teabag), JS153 Month September (leaf)...

Other supplies: Cosmo Cricket Mr. Campy PP; Brocade PP (unknown); Kraft & Chocolate Chip CS, ribbon, and linen thread all from SU; Autumn Leaves button; SU Top Note Die; Basic Grey naked circle chipboard; Ranger Distress Vintage Photo Ink; Old Olive SU Ink, Stazon Olive Green & Timber Brown.

Let me tell you.. If you are looking for ANY inspiration for your holiday cards - you have to check out the submissions for the five different challenges... DROP DEAD GORGEOUS!

Originally, I was creating this card for the Fun & Cute Challenge.. But, since I have three stamps on here, I opted for the stamping challenge!!

Now, see that cute little bird? He is adhered to a charm fragment, and the fragment just so happens to have a hanger attached (it goes behind the card) so it can be an ornament, too!

I got the adorable Holly Bird stamp from Sue, over at Suzanne's Stamping Spot.. And, if you aren't familiar with her, go check her blog out! Boy that girl is talented!!!
